What are the Nurture class series?
Our Nurture classes are a unique mix of nature inspired activities for confident walkers to pre-school aged children, with a unique mix of mindfulness activities to enable parents to connect with themselves and explore mindful parenting.
Each activity has been designed by a specialist team to bring exciting play and development opportunities for your child, as well as offering a mindfulness approach for your child and for you.
We run our Nurture classes on a seasonal basis, operating Nurture in Nature which is an outdoor forest school class based in woodland from April to October. Due to inclement weather, we offer Nurture and Grow classes indoors from November to March. You can find more details about our Nurture and Grow classes below…
What is Nurture and Grow
Nurture and Grow is a unique class which caters for both parent and child alike, run by Libby Barnes from The Milk Hub, and Lizzie Noble from Parenting Explorers.
Combining heuristic play and nature based activities for your child, with the opportunity to connect with yourself and learn mindful parenting techniques to improve your own mental wellbeing.
The class is suitable for children who are confident walkers up to school age. Younger siblings if not yet on the move are also welcome to attend.
If you would like to bring two mobile children (e.g. twins/triplets, or you have a preschooler and a toddler), please contact us so we can organise the spaces for you. This is due to Covid restrictions.
How does each session work?
Sessions will take place indoors at St Peters Church, Hinguar Street, Shoeburyness. We will start and end each session together as a group, using the opportunity to build attachments and practice mindfulness techniques with our children.
During the session, the children will have the opportunity to access a variety of nature inspired activities, created and run by Lizzie who is one half of the Beyond Birth team and a Beyond Birth Mental Wellbeing Practitioner. Lizzie is also an Outstanding Rated Ofstead Forest Child Care provider, as well as being a early years play and development expert and holistic sleep coach.
Each activity will have a mindfulness element to it, which will be designed by Libby, who is a mindful parenting specialist, infant feeding practitioner and Beyond Birth Mental Wellbeing Practitioner. The mindfulness activities will be a mix of group and individual activities, and the mindfulness focus will be an intrinsic part of the children’s activities too.
Children will be nearby to their parents the whole time, and there will be no pressure for children to join the activities if they feel more comfortable remaining with their parent. This is a relaxed session.
